Youthful Victory How Young France Secures Their Spot in the Euro Cup Quarterfinals

Jong Frankrijk secures second victory, one foot in U21 Euro quarterfinals

Young French team dominates battle against hosts

Jong Frankrijk, the under-21 French national team, has won its second game of the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, taking place in Hungary and Slovenia. The game against the Hungarian hosts took place on Wednesday and ended with a 2-0 victory for the French team.

France dominated from the start, taking the lead in the 20th minute thanks to midfielder Enzo Le Fée. The Hungarians tried to react but failed to find the back of the net. Jong Frankrijk sealed the victory in the second half with a goal from forward Isaac Lihadji.

Young French team on the verge of qualification

With this second win, Jong Frankrijk is now at the top of Group A with six points – three more than the Netherlands, Portugal and Romania. The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals, which will take place in late May.

However, the French team still has one more game to play against Romania on Sunday. A draw could be enough to see France through to the knockout stages, but a victory would seal their place at the top of the group.

Can Jong Frankrijk go all the way?

Jong Frankrijk has won this championship twice before, in 1988 and 1998. However, since then, they have only reached the final once, in 2002, where they lost to the Czech Republic. Can this young team replicate the success of the past and bring home the championship once again?
