Kylian Mbappé wants to join Real Madrid this summer

According to The ParisianKylian Mbappé (24) wants to join Real Madrid this summer. The Frenchman is reportedly looking to seize the opportunity presented by Karim Benzema’s departure from Spain and join La Casa Blanca.

The Paris-born superstar has never been closer to leaving Ligue 1,  and reportedly wants to join the Spanish club as soon as possible. In his pursuit, Mbappé has sent a letter to the PSG leadership, putting the ball in their court and expressing his desire to make the switch this summer, or without any transfer fee in 2024.

In the spring of 2023, while contemplating whether to extend his stay in Paris or make a move to Real Madrid, Mbappé and his entourage questioned the wisdom of joining a Real Madrid team fully focused on celebrating Karim Benzema. Beyond financial considerations, the Bondy-born striker values control over events and the power derived from his status as an exceptional footballer.

This doesn’t mean he is averse to sharing the spotlight, as demonstrated by his failed attempt to bring a pure number 9 to PSG, even reportedly personally engaging with Robert Lewandowski, who eventually signed with Barcelona. The Parisian say that Mbappé has always privately maintained that he would not spend his entire career in Paris, and he is seizing the opportunity to arrive at Real Madrid as a hero.

Earlier today, Mbappé denied that he has ever engaged in discussions with PSG over a contract extension beyond 2024, via a communiqué through the AFP. Unsurprisingly, Real Madrid have emerged as the frontrunner to secure Mbappé’s services, a player they missed out on during the previous summer transfer window. The club’s President, Florentino Perez, has reportedly been in contact with Mbappé in recent weeks since the departure of Karim Benzema. Chelsea are also set to express their interest in the Frenchman.
