Kylian Mbappé denies having ever discussed a PSG contract extension

Kylian Mbappé (24) has, through AFP, denied that he has ever engaged in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a contract extension.

The starting gun on the latest Mbappé saga was sounded last night following an explosive letter, in which the France captain informed the PSG hierarchy he wouldn’t be triggering the additional year in his current contract. As a result, the former AS Monaco academy product would be available on a free come next summer. PSG, however, are not willing to let such a valuable leave for nothing and are therefore considering a sale this summer. Once again, Real Madrid are expected to make a move for the player that they missed out on last summer, and the club’s President, Florentino Perez, has already been in contact with Mbappé in recent weeks.

Mbappé through a press release sent to AFP has now revealed that there were never discussions over an extension past the summer of 2024 and that the letter, dated 15th July 2022, “has the sole objective of confirming was had been orally specified beforehand.”

PSG’s administrative council has been informed since 15th July 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 and the letter that was sent only served to confirm what I had only told them,” said Mbappé in the release.
