Schuurs could make domestic top transfer, Feyenoord closely watching

Dutch defender Perr Schuurs has reportedly caught the attention of several Eredivisie clubs, with Feyenoord in particular said to be closely watching his situation. The 20-year-old center-back plays for Ajax, but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter this season, partly due to competition from other talented defenders in Erik ten Hag’s squad. However, Schuurs has still impressed many observers with his technical skills, composure on the ball, and leadership qualities. As a result, there have been rumors that he could leave Ajax in search of more playing time and a bigger role elsewhere.

According to Voetbal International, several Eredivisie teams have already expressed interest in Schuurs, who joined Ajax from Fortuna Sittard in 2018. Besides Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar are also said to have monitored his progress. However, Schuurs is reportedly not yet in a hurry to make a move, as he still wants to help Ajax in their quest for domestic and European success this season. Ajax are currently leading the Eredivisie table and have reached the round of 16 in the Champions League, where they will face Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille.

In the meantime, Feyenoord are said to be preparing for a potential summer transfer bid for Schuurs, who could replace Marcos Senesi as their main center-back if the Argentine leaves for a bigger club. Senesi has been a revelation for Feyenoord since arriving from San Lorenzo in 2019, but his performances have attracted interest from several foreign clubs, including Leeds United and Sevilla. If he departs, Feyenoord may need a reliable partner for Uros Spajic, who has joined the Rotterdam side on loan from Krasnodar.

What do you think of Schuurs’ prospects? Would he be a good fit for Feyenoord or any other Eredivisie club? Should Ajax try to keep him or let him go? Share your thoughts in the comments.
