Chelsea secures summer signing with €60 million deal from RB Leipzig
Blues acquire Timo Werner as first summer transfer
English football club Chelsea has secured the first signing of the summer transfer window with a successful €60 million deal from RB Leipzig. The Premier League team has acquired German attacker Timo Werner, who was also pursued by Liverpool and Manchester United.
Werner, who scored 32 goals for Leipzig this season, will join Chelsea on July 1st. The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Blues and will wear the number 11 shirt.
With this acquisition, Chelsea will have strengthened its attacking line-up and will also have added depth to the team after having their transfer ban lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
